Postcard 12: Ndebele

I’ve appreciated the art and craft of the Ndebele tribes in South Africa from when my father introduced it to me as a child. The geometric patterns present in the painting of Ndebele houses and beadwork is as timeless today as it was when the tradition first began – a great example of enduring local design. You can read more about Ndebele culture here. I made this Ndebele-inspired postcard for my friend Terence, who is one of the directors at Egg Films. His work, which ranges from commercials to music videos, manages to skillfully incorporate South African iconography, culture and mythology.
